Welcome to the Desert Southwest!

As residents of Queen Creek Arizona, we are inspired by her beauty and grace. Arizona is a state for all seasons, from the breath-taking Grand Canyon to the north, the rippling Colorado River to the west, the pride of the Old West, Tombstone, to the south, and the majestic snow-capped peaks of the White Mountains to the east, and, of course, the Valley of the Sun in the center, Arizona offers a memorable experience for any traveler.  As natives of the Grand Canyon State, let our expertise help you plan a vacation, business trip, or quick stop to our state. Let us show you the Arizona we love and adore.

Feature Story

Oh Arizona!

Take a minute. Close your eyes and think about Arizona. What do you see? Chances are the images that first come to mind are those of the Old West--cowboys, Indians, deserts, cacti--stuff straight out of TV Westerns. You half expect Wyatt Earp or Cochise to emerge from behind a wagon train.

Cowboys still do exist here, but they are more likely to be found assisting city slickers at modern guest ranches than lassoing cattle on a trail drive.

Native Americans, the first Arizonans, though a small percentage of today's population, are a major influence in everyday life. Reminders of their heritage are evident in national monuments, tribal parks and historic sites that preserve their ancient dwellings, customs and crafts.

As for the deserts, well, the sand and the intricate rock formations are still there, but their expanse is now broken by major metropolitan areas such as Phoenix and Tucson and golf courses that seem strangely out of place. And rare species of cactus, such as the organ pipe and saguaro, are protected in their own preserves.

Wagon trains no longer cross Arizona's plains. Adventure now comes courtesy of four-wheel-drive vehicles and weekend hikes in the state's hills and mountains. Mr. Earp and Cochise would be amazed.

Featured Destination: Grand Canyon

As one of the world's vast and beautiful wonders, the Grand Canyon is a must-see when visiting Arizona. The walls descend more than a mile to the canyon floor and run 277 miles from end to end. Visitors flock to Grand Canyon National Park (GCNP), making it one of the country's top-10 most-visited national parks. And with as many as five million visitors a year, it's wise to plan ahead for any trip to the Canyon.

Access to the park is available from entrances on the South Rim, the North Rim and the eastern edge. The Canyon's western edge is also accessible via roads on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.

Because of its proximity to Flagstaff and Williams, most visitors travel to the Canyon's South Rim. Here, visitors will find park headquarters and many facilities located at Grand Canyon Village. Area facilities include several hotels, restaurants, a general store, laundry and shower facilities, a bank with an ATM and an automotive service station. Visitors can also find a gas station, hotels, restaurants, stores and the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce in Tusayan, six miles south of the Canyon.Once you reach the Canyon, the local South Rim visitor's center, the Canyon View Information Plaza (CVIP), offers brochures, maps and other information about the park, as well as a non-profit bookstore and gift shop.

The Village has a number of parking areas, but summer days and weekends still see ..more
